Book of the Week: Madeline Finn and the Library Dog by Lisa Papp

In this book

Madeline Finn does not like to read. Not books. Not magazines. Not even the menu on the ice cream truck. But when Madeline meets Bonnie, a library dog, she discovers that reading aloud to Bonnie is something of a delight—and Bonnie doesn’t seem to mind at all when Madeline Finn makes mistakes!

The illustrations in this one are just lovely, and I think many struggling readers will be encouraged by Madeline Finn’s discovery that reading is much more delightful when you’re not afraid of getting things wrong.

Recommended for:

Ages 3-8, but as with all excellent picture books, older kids will enjoy it, too.
