In this book… Madeline Finn does not like to read. Not books. Not magazines. Not even the menu on the ice cream truck. But when Madeline meets Bonnie, a library dog, she discovers that reading aloud to Bonnie is something of a delight—and Bonnie doesn’t seem to mind at all when Madeline Finn makes mistakes!
The illustrations in this one are just lovely, and I think many struggling readers will be encouraged by Madeline Finn’s discovery that reading is much more delightful when you’re not afraid of getting things wrong.
Recommended for: ages 3-8, but as with all excellent picture books, older kids will enjoy it, too.
