Set in 1989 Romania, while the Soviet Union is crumbling. This is one of Ruta Sepetys's best. I'd save it for the 16+ crowd. Heads-up for a bit of bad language (though it's appropriately placed), and mature themes. I suggest reading the Redeemed Reader review here.)
