What is Christmas School?

It’s a pick-and-choose program, so you can do everything in the guide and let Christmas School be your family’s focus for the whole month of December…

… or just pick what you like best.

Everything is inside the the Christmas School Guide.

This is an open-and-go curriculum, which means you just need to peek over the supply list before each week. Otherwise, there’s zero prep.

Can I see sample pages?

Absolutely! Here are sample pages of our 2022 Christmas School Guide.

The 2022 Christmas School Guide includes optional daily lesson plans, if you’d like some help figuring out how to lay it out as a daily curriculum over the course of December.

How does Christmas School work?

Everything you need for Christmas School is in the Christmas School Guide. The 87-page Christmas School Guide is available to all RAR Premium Members. You’ll also be able to access to a simple website page, containing everything from the Christmas School Guide on the go.

Using Christmas School is easy. Peek at the week’s supply list in advance. Everything in Christmas School is open-and-go, so aside from gathering supplies, there is zero prep needed.

How do I get it?

Christmas School is available to all RAR Premium Members.

All year long, RAR Premium members get monthly Family Book Clubs, as well as homeschool coaching with Sarah Mackenzie, author of Teaching from Rest.

To do Christmas School with your own family, join RAR Premium here. No contracts, no commitment, cancel anytime. We even have a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Which ages is Christmas School best for?

We really mean it when we say that Christmas School is built for the whole family. We’ve integrated learning across the curriculum, including language arts, history/geography, nature study, arts/culture, and more.

You’ll find suggested activities for all ages, from preschool through high school (including a mini-study of A Christmas Carol, especially for high schoolers).

Where do I get the books?

This year’s Christmas School is based on some of our favorite Christmas books by Jan Brett:

  • The Mitten
  • The Wild Christmas Reindeer
  • The Hat
  • The Christmas Trolls
  • The Night Before Christmas

You can get those books individually, or simply purchase Jan Brett’s Christmas Treasury, which includes them all.

Keep in mind that thousands of families all over the world participate in our Christmas School, so you may have trouble borrowing these books from the library. They’re worth purchasing for your permanent home collection, though!

Our Christmas School is popular, so if you have any trouble getting the Christmas Treasury, try getting the books individually. Depending on your location, you may be able to purchase the book(s) on Amazon, Bookshop, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Abebooks, or Thriftbooks.

When does Christmas School start?

Your Christmas School Guide is available now in RAR Premium. There are four weeks of plans, so you can do Christmas School through the whole month of December, or jump in anytime!

How will I have time for this?

Many RAR families love Christmas School so much, we do it instead of our regular schoolwork. You’ll find plenty of learning for all ages across the curriculum as part of your Christmas School learning. Just add math.

Is Christmas School religious?

We’re all Christians here on the RAR Team, and we’re pretty focused on the true reason for the season: the birth of Our Lord Jesus. Christmas School includes religious Christmas carols and scripture reading.

That said, non-Christian families often use and enjoy Christmas School, as well. This year’s book selections will appeal to families.

Will I need to buy a bunch of supplies?

Nope. You probably have most of what you need already.

We suggest taking a few minutes each weekend to glance over the Supplies List so you’re prepared for the week ahead. Everything is pick-and-choose, so if you’re unable to get supplies for any particular activity, choose a different one.

What if all I want is Christmas School, and not the rest of RAR Premium?

No problem. Simply purchase a month of RAR Premium. You can then cancel your subscription immediately after joining with just a couple of clicks. Once you cancel, you’ll still have access to everything in RAR Premium for the month you paid for, and you won’t be charged again.

Does the 3-Day Money-Back Guarantee still apply?

Of course it does! If Christmas School or RAR Premium isn’t a good fit for your family, we want you to get your money back. Just contact us at support and we’ll make it happen lickety-split.
